Producer-director Shakti Chidambaram has lodged a complaint with the city police seeking its intervention in getting him his payment which is due from Sun Pictures, which producer superstar Rajini’s ‘Enthiran: The Robot’. In a detailed complaint, Shakti has held Sun Pictures’ COO Hansraj Saxena and his aide Ayyappan as responsible for the losses he suffered.
His complaint goes thus: “I have been in the Tamil film industry for the past 2 decades in various capacities such as producer, director and distributor of films. I secured the distribution rights for Chengalpattu region in respect of the Rajini-starrer ‘Enthiran: The Robot’ for a bargained price of Rs.4 crores Hansraj Saxena of Sun Pictures.
“Even after I paid him Rs.4 crores, I wasn’t allotted 8 cinema halls in the region as per the agreement; one theatre, which usually collects high, was specifically left out and not given to me to release the film due to which I suffered a loss of Rs.1.60 crores. When I asked them about it, Saxena and his aide Ayyappan intimidated me and I could do nothing at that time.
“I request you to initiate proper legal action to ensure that the amount due is paid to me at the earliest,” said the complaint. In a separate complaint filed on the same day, Shakti also sought police intervention in getting the payment for a land belonging to him from ex-MLA Babu and his nephew Dhinakaran. Shakti alleged that the duo had cheated him by taking a land worth Rs.5 crore from his son-in-law and said that the money hasn’t yet been paid to him.
He also alleged that the duo locked him up in a room and beat him using their henchmen when he demanded the payment that was due to him.
