Shakthi’s upcoming film Aattanayagan where he plays the role of an action hero is all set for release. The actor says that this is one of the biggest films of his career and is excited about it.
“This is my fourth film and after playing soft, romantic roles, I’m donning the role of a full-fledged action hero. It’s all thanks to director Krishnaraam who had faith in me,” he says while beginning the conversation. He goes on to add, “Even though it’s the director’s debut, he insisted and convinced the producers Lakshmi Movie Makers that I should be cast in the lead role. I am confident that just like how Run established Madhavan and Dhil did the trick for Vikram, Attanayagan will prove my capability as an action hero.”
About sharing screen space with comedian Santhanam for the third time he says, “Santhanam and I are very good friends off-screen too. The best part about him is that he would be cracking jokes when the shot was being called and then, suddenly he would incorporate his own dialogues, which aren’t in the script. This took me by surprise and I didn’t know how to react.”
What makes the film so special? “I would say the real ‘Aattanayagan’ is director Krishnaraam. His realistic screenplay is the highlight of the film,” answers the actor while stressing that he shouldn’t receive credit for being a popular director’s son but for the way he has performed in the movie.
About Srikanth Deva’s he quips, “Srikanth Deva has come out with versatile songs. My introduction song will be similar to what Vijay had in Thiruppachi.”
