The curtain riser of IPL Season 4 at the MA Chidambaran stadium in Chennai caught the eyes of many. Approximately, 40, 000 people were present in the stadium to witness the opening ceremony of IPL Season 4. Although, many had complained that the opening ceremony had lost its touch in comparison to previous years, yet the 15-minutes strong performance of King Khan saved the day.
Shahrukh Khan, or affectionately known as King Khan, started off with Chak De India which instantaneously drove the fans into raptures, as it is only a week old that India lifted the World Cup trophy. He also performed Billu Barber. However, the real highlight of the day is when SRK danced to the tunes of ‘Appadi Podu’ and ‘Naaka Mukka’. King Khan was not left alone on stage as he was accompanied by Shriya Saran, the South beauty, who performed as equally as the King of Bollywood. Indeed, the extremely rocking performance by King Khan and Shriya stole the limelight of the opening ceremony which was largely not up to the mark.
Shriya, who was specially flown into Chennai for the ceremony, is currently shooting in Sri Lanka for her latest film ‘Winds of Change’ directed by Deepa Mehta. She had exclaimed that it was very thrilling and a dream come true for her to share the centre stage with an iconic figure like the King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by a match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. Thus, Shahrukh Khan’s presence in Chennai was also a boost for his KKR team. Unfortunately, for SRK, KKR lost by a whisker of 2 runs on the last ball. Nonetheless, SRK has strong faith in Gautam Gambhir, the new captain of KKR, to lead the team to glory.
