Actors Ajith and Vijay did star together in a few films quite early in their respective careers in the mid-nineties. Afterwards, as their popularity spread and fan-base increased immensely, the two stars decided not to star together in a(ny) film. Their decision is not dissimilar to the one taken by stalwarts Kamal Haasan and superstar Rajinikanth who starred together in many films till the mid-eighties and then started treading their own paths.
Director Selvaraghavan, whose latest directorial venture Mayakkan Enna has been making waves at the box-office even as it has evoked mixed responses from the print and television media, claims that he is in possession of a ‘perfect script’ which would suit Ajith and Vijay if they decide to come together on-screen again.
In a free-wheeling chat, Selvaa said, “I have been getting quite a lot of appreciation for Mayakkam Enna. I have always tried consciously to stay off the oft-beaten track and make films differently. Contrary to what is reported in the press from time to time, I don’t have any misunderstanding with Yuvan and would soon be joining him in one of my upcoming film.
“As far as me directing Ajith and Vijay, instead of making films separately starring these two stars, I have a perfect script which would suit the style and tenacity of both these stars. I don’t know when this project would start and whether both of them would agree to it. My next film would be Irandaam Ulagam staring Aarya and Anushka in the lead. I also have two more scripts which would be edge-of-the-seat thrillers.
“I might start work on the sequel to Aayirathil Oruvan some time next year after I complete Irandaam Ulagam,” Selvaa concluded.
