The multi-tasking Sasikumar is presently starring in the film Poraali which is directed by his friend and actor-director Samuthirakkani. Sasikumar and Samuthirakkani share an excellent rapport between them; if the former directs a film, the latter plays the lead role in it and if the film is made by the latter, the former plays the title role. This has been the case with the duo for the past few years.
Sasikumar, who has excelled as a director and producer as well, has now signed up to play the lead role in a new film to be directed by GNR Kumaravelan. Sasikumar’s last directorial venture was Easan while he hasn’t starred in any film after Nadodigal which released in 2009. He might again direct a film after completing Poraali.
GNR directed the recent Bharath-Reema Kallingal starrer Yuvan Yuvathi which didn’t fare well at the box-office. Unfazed by the film’s no-show at the box-office, GNR worked overtime and prepared another script and wanted to cast Sasikumar in the lead. He met Sasikumar and narrated the script to him. Sasikumar liked the script and immediately gave his nod to star in the film.
The heroine opposite Sasikumar and other actors are yet to be decided. It is said that Sasikumar would first complete Poraali and GNR’s film before venturing into direction again. He also plays the lead role in a Malayalam film titled Masters.
