Actor and newly-crowned MLA Sarathkumar has said that education should be given free-of-cost to all children irrespective of the caste, creed and economic barriers. The actor, whose Chennai Rhinos recently won the CCL cricket trophy last week, was speaking at an event in Tenkasi.
Sarath aligned with AIADMK in the elections to the State Assembly held in April and managed to win two seats for his AISMK including his own victory as MLA in Tenkasi. Speaking at an event held to give away prizes to District toppers in SSLC and Plus Two exams, Sarath said that education should be given free-of-cost and shouldn’t be seen as a source of money-spinning business. Paying Rs.50 lakhs or so to get a medical seat is rather painful, he noted.
“Students should cultivate the habit of frequently visiting libraries and going through the books there. Knowledge enriches one’s self confidence. The students should try to learn as many languages as they can. At the same time, they shouldn’t lose sight of the pride of speaking in their mother-tongue. Only a person who loves his mother-tongue can also love his country.
“I’m determined to make Tenkasi a model constituency in the State as well as the country by doing everything possible. I would like to urge the rulers to make education free for all; only good students can shape the destiny of the country and make it a superpower,” noted Sarath Kumar.
