Samy launches his next (controversial?) film

Samy Sarithram

Director Samy has launched his next film tentatively titled Sarithram, the shooting of which is presently taking place in and around the suburbs of Chennai. Samy’s earlier films have remained outside the controversial line: ‘Mirugam’, ‘Uyir’ and ‘Sindhu Samaveli’, had their own share of controversies during/after the making of the film.

Heroines usually don’t sign up Samy’s films in view of the negative press they get when they do so. However, this time, a hero has reportedly turned down the offer to play the lead role in Samy’s upcoming film. Harish Kalyan, who played the lead in ‘Sindhu Samaveli’ opposite Amala Paul, was approached by Samy for the lead role in his next film.Though he agreed to star in the film initially, for some reason, Harish excused himself and opted out of the film later. Instead of approaching any other hero, Samy had gone ahead and signed up another director Kathir as the hero of his new film. Kathir, who had earlier directed the successful ‘Thenavattu’ starring Jiiva and Poonam Bajwa, was waiting for Karthi’s call-sheet to start his next directorial venture.

Last heard, Samy is introducing another newcomer as heroine opposite Kathir. The question is whether or not she would be spared the slapping that Samy is famous for (remember what happened to actress Padmapriya during the making of ‘Mirugam’)?
