PVP Cinemas made a forgettable debut as a production house in Kollywood by producing the Vikram-starrer Rajapattai late last year. The film, which had the talented Vikram playing a gym boy, sank without a trace at the box-office despite the fact that the film was directed by Suseendhiran and had Tollywood hottie Deeksha Seth debuting as heroine in Tamil films opposite Vikram.
As if to make amends for a disastrous debut, the production house is now producing many films at present. Said to be financing Kamal’s magnum opus Viswaroopam, PVP also produces director Selvaraghavan’s Irandaam Ulagam (starring Aarya and Anushka in the lead) and director Bala’s Eriyum Thanal (starring Atharva, Samantha and Vedhika). The shooting of both the above-mentioned films has been progressing well.
PVP has also launched the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film starring Samantha in the lead. Titled as Naan Eee in Tamil, the film would release in Telugu as Eega. The bilingual film is directed by Rajamouli, who directed the super-duper hit Magadheera more than a couple of years ago. Billed as a sci-fi thriller, the film is expected to hit Tamil and Telugu screens by the first or second week of April.
Produced at a huge cost running into several crores, the script (story) of the film is as old as the Universe could be. It’s like the fairytale books children need which ends with a ‘perfect ending’. The hero (played by Nani) gets tortured and killed by the villain and immediately takes a ‘rebirth’ in the form of a ‘house-fly’ to take revenge on the villain.
Wonder what Samantha would feel at the prospect of singing a duet song with a house-fly!
