Producer-director S.A. Chandrasekhar finally took the formal plunge in the election arena by kicking off his election campaign for and in favour of the opposition AIADMK and its allied candidates for the ensuing Assembly elections in the State scheduled for next Wednesday (13th).
SAC, who was recently pulled by Chennai High Court for some ‘controversial sequences’ in his latest directorial venture ‘Sattappadi Kutram’, didn’t display any signs of nervousness during his campaign trail. His campaigning kicked off at Radhapuram in Tirunelveli where film producer Michael Royappan of DMDK, an ally of AIADMK, is in the fray.
SAC, who had been a DMK sympathizer till a few months back, had to switch allegiance to AIADMK when his son and actor Vijay faced unprecedented problems reportedly from the ruling ‘front’ in releasing his latest film ‘Kaavalan’. Vijay’s fans across the State have been ‘instructed’ to work for the success of AIADMK and its allies in the elections.
Never before Kollywood has taken sides as it has done in the present elections, with stars taking clear stand on whom they support or oppose.
