Trusted sources reveal that Mani Ratnam is back to doing what he does best, spinning the romantic web ever so beautifully on screen. Mani is planning to give something on the lines of his dramatic 2002 blockbuster hit Kannathil Muthamittal. This new offering will be his first full fledged Tamil flick, after a decade long indulgence in bilinguals from the veteran director. The project expects to kick start this September as soon as the torrential rains rest their play, in Gods own country-Kerala.
Mani is busy making all the preparations for this upcoming romantic musical as he has been location hunting in Kerala, soaking in the cool breeze and lush greenery of the lagoons, famous for its warm houseboats and awe-inspiring backwaters. The director has zeroed in on a fishing village in Kanyakumari and the coastal port of Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram, just 3 km away from the famous Kovalam beach. The technical department will also see a change with Mani regulars Samir Chanda and Sabu Cyril being replaced by Telugu set designer Ravinder who proved his mettle with Telugu flicks Maghadheera and Mariyadai Raman. Although there have been a lot of names linked to the Mani project including Arya and even Ilayathalapathy Vijay we will have to wait for the official announcements regarding the lead pair, awaited soon.
Needless to say Isai Puyal AR Rahman will marry his tunes to his mentor and director Mani’s magical vision for this forthcoming offering, going on floors this September.
