Remember Ramya Nambeesan, who played the heroine opposite Vishnu in last year’s hit film Kullanarikootam. The film, which released early last year, was a runaway hit and was liked by the people for the simple yet uncluttered script penned by debutant director Sribalaji. Though the film was a hit, Ramya disappeared altogether from the Tamil film industry, surprising her fans who were wondering as to what had happened.
She now returns with Pizza (the name of her next Tamil film!) wherein she plays the heroine opposite Vijay Sethupathi, who impressed critics and movie-goers with his realistic portrayal as the male lead in the 2010 national award-winning film Tenmerku Paruvakkaatru by Seenu Ramasamy.
Pizza is being directed by Karthick Subbarao, a debutant, and would deal with the day-to-day problems faced by a person (read the hero) who woks at a Pizza Shop. Producer Thirukumaran, who is producing Attakathi at present, would also be producing Pizza simultaneously. Ramya is thrilled to return to Tamil screen after more than an year of the release of Kullanarikootam.
Talking about her character in the film, Ramya says “My character in this film has good scope for me to display my acting credentials. Till now, I had a ‘dubbed voice’ in Tamil films but from this film onwards, I shall be dubbing in my own voice. I’m sure the film would do well in theatres. Though I’m open to doing glamour-filled roles, I’m not offered films in that genre. I’m only apprehensive of donning the swim-suit,” says Ramya.
