The much-awaited comeback of superstar Rajinikanth is scheduled for the first week of October. The superstar, who returned from Singapore after getting treated for his kidney-related ailments in the second week of July, has been taking complete rest for the past two months at his Poes Garden residence as well as at his sprawling farmhouse in Kelambakkam, on the outskirts of the city.
K.S. Ravikumar, who would be directing Rajini for the third time in ‘Rana’, revealed some time back that the shooting of the period film would commence on 3rd October. As such, the D-Day is just four weeks away. Not only the superstar’s legion of fans but also the entire Kollywood industry would be looking keenly at the progress of the film’s shooting and the amount of stress that the superstar is able to place on himself in starring in it.
Rajini plays triples in his ‘dream film’ and has penned the script of the film. Ravikumar has written the screenplay. Bollywood’s Deepika Padukone has been finalized as one of Rajini’s three heroines in the film. The shoot, which was launched on 29th April, had to be abandoned the same evening after Rajini fell ill and spent two spells of hospital stay in Chennai before being flown to Singapore for further treatment on 28th May.
Rajini is said to have recovered soon and back to his normal health, doctors from Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital (who have been attending to him regularly) say. An employee of FEFSI says on condition of anonymity that “the re-start of the shooting schedule of Rana would not only provide employment opportunities to more than 1,000 technicians but would also clear the stagnancy at the box-office in the recent past!”
Ravikumar and Rajini are likely to shoot for 200 days (spread over three schedules) to complete the film. First schedule, though, would commence at Chennai’s AVM Studios. The shooting would be held in and around the forts and palaces in Agra and Chitoor. Music wizard A.R. Rahman is also said to be itching to start work on the film again!
