It’s unbelievable but true: the biography of superstar Rajinikanth, widely considered to be the ‘most powerful’ all-time superstar of Indian films, is to be made into a film. The surprise element is that the film is not going to be made in Tamil but in Hindi!
Atul Agnihotri, former Bollywood actor who later turned producer, is planning to make a film out of the life of superstar, whose life has been that of a typical rags-to-riches story. The 61-year-old Rajini, who started his career as a bus conductor in Bangalore city, moved to Chennai and then was introduced in films by veteran director K. Balachander. The rest, as they say, is history.
Reports emanating from Mumbai say that the film would be made only after getting the approval of superstar Rajinikanth. The actor who plays Rajini in the film would be a newcomer who would be trained to act, walk, speak and behave in the way Rajini does and would also be essaying the superstar’s unmatched on-screen mannerisms, it is said.
Rajini might lend his voice which would be used as a prelude to the film’s beginning, it is said. Reports say that Lloyd Baptista, an ad-film director who has spent considerable time in India, would be directing the film.
For the first time in the history of Indian films, a biopic the life of a film artiste is being attempted!
