Government Model Primary School in Gavi Puram, near Gavi Gangadhareshwara Swamy Temple may not rank among the top Indian schools when it comes to listing down the ranks. But who cares about ranks anyway when you’ve got Thalaivar Rajinikanth raising your flag up high for the show. It is the same school where a young Rajini walked in way back five decades, to rest his heavy carriage of books and back on that old Class I bench.
Rajini studied there for eight years and later shifted on to the Bangalore High School. Later he got a job as a conductor with the Karnataka State Road Corporation where he met dear friend Raja Bathar. Raja a driver by profession recently announced that Rajini’s school in Gavi Puram will undergo renovation and the work for the same has already started. His other close friend Ashok,( president of the Karnataka Film Workers association ) has come in full support for Rajini and said that there were plans of building new high-tech computer labs along with other outdated facilities being either replaced or upgraded. When inquired about Rajinis contribution, the reply was straightforward from Ashok as he said, “We don’t want any unwanted publicity regarding Rajinis contribution.”
School days might have gone by but those nostalgic moments still hold strong for Rajini, this being his own way of giving back the joy.
