Superstar Rajinikanth has asked his close friend and Kannada star Ambareesh to follow his own example and quit the deadly habit of smoking. Ambareesh turned 60 on Tuesday (29th May) and a grand function was organized wherein his 60th birthday was celebrated in a grand manner. Speakers recalled Ambareesh’s 40-year long career in films and the various landmarks achieved by him en route.
Prominent actors and actresses representing the Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada film industries took part in the birthday celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, Rajini said “Ambareesh is a very talented actor. I have been seeing in his persona the various qualities displayed by mythological characters such as Lord Krishna, Duryodhana, Karna and Bheema. He cooks like Bheema did and is as generous as Karna.
“Like Duryodhana did in Mahabharat, Ambareesh knows what is right and what is wrong and is still unable to come out of certain bad things. Ambareesh knows for sure the ill-effects of smoking. I can cite my own example to him; only because of my smoking habit did I fell ill last year and was subsequently treated at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth hospital. I have quit smoking since then and would like Ambareesh to follow suit,” said the superstar.
Shatrughan Sinha, some of whose mannerisms inspired Rajini early in his career, said “It’s time Ambareesh quit his smoking habit. I and Rajini used to smoke rather stylishly on screen. I stopped smoking a few years back on 31st May which was the World Anti-Tobacco day. Rajini too is out of this habit and we would love Ambareesh to do the same. He could contribute more to films if he does so,” said Sinha.
