Superstar Rajinikanth is said to have expressed his ‘reservations’ in starring in intimate dance and other sequences with Deepika Padukone, top Bollywood starlet and his heroine in his upcoming film Kochadaiyaan. The film is billed as the country’s first 3-D animation venture and marks the directorial debut of Rajini’s younger daughter Soundarya who is being assisted by K.S. Ravikumar in every conceivable way.
During the Kerala schedule of the film’s shoot held recently, Rajini reportedly made it known to his daughter not to set up any ‘intimate’ sequences on-screen between him and Deepika, who is more than three decades younger than the ‘man of the masses’. Rajini has ‘advised’ his daughter not to conveive any sequences in songs which might require him get ‘too close’ with Deepika (on-screen, though!)
Rajini reportedly conveyed to Soundarya that such sequences (with Deepika) would ‘embarrass him’ and impressed on her the need to reduce the number of instances he might have to get ‘close’ to Deepika during the song sequences. The shoot of the film has been progressing at a hectic pace with the second schedule getting wrapped up in Kerala only recently.
It is said that during the filming of a song sequence, Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan had choreographed some ‘intimate’ dance movements which Rajini was not so comfortable with and informed to Saroj and Soundarya as to what he felt about such dance movements. Rajini is said to have ‘instructed’ Soundarya to ensure that the movements look ‘dignified’ on-screen.
Producer Murali Manohar adds that the son gin question was a classical song set to score in a very good ‘tempo’ by Rahman. “The song, which has Rajini and Deepika indulging in bharatnatyam, would be lapped up by the audiences,” he says.
