Actress Radhika Sarathkumar returns to the big screen after long time by playing the pivotal role of a politician in actor Karthi’s upcoming film ‘Saguni‘. The uncrowned ‘queen’ of small screen has played ‘mother’ roles in films in the past but has been concentrating mainly on small screen for the past decade or so, churning out successful serials one after another at prime time on a popular regional television channel.
Incidentally, Radhika has completed a ‘full circle’ with ‘Saguni’. She had acted as actor Sivakumar’s heroine in a few films in the eighties and has acted with his elder son Suriya and completes the ‘family circle’ by acting with Karthi in ‘Saguni’. No actress has so far acted with all the three actors.
Asked to comment on the trio of actors in Sivakumar, Suriya and Karthi, Radhika quickly reported that all the three of them were ‘gentlemen personified’ and said that they were hard-working actors who were very simple and didn’t carry the ‘starry air’ along with them. “From what I saw, I was sure impressed by Karthi’s performance on the sets during the shooting,” opines Radhika.
Why coming back to films when you’re ruling the telly? “After watching the film ‘Saguni’, I’m sure that audience would agree with me that the role I was offered in the film was an irresistible one. The moment I was narrated the script by the director, I decided that I shouldn’t miss out on this opportunity,” says an excited Radhika, who has just returned from London where she had gone on vacation with her entire family.
The shooting of ‘Saguni’ is now in progress at Sowcarpet in Chennai, which has a significant population of North Indians.
