After making many highly successful films such as Mohan’s Payanangal Mudivadhillai, Kungumachimizh and Mella Thirandhadhu Kadhavu, Vijaykanth’s Vaidehi Kathirundhaal, Ammal Koil Kizhakkalae and Rajinikanth’s Rajadhi Raja, director Sundararajan took a self-imposed break from direting films and got involved in films merely as an actor and went on to star in more than 100 films.
After more than a 15-year long hiatus, he now returns to the big-screen as a director. R. Sundararan (RS) has named his latest directorial venture as Uyir Ezhuthu. The film has Keerthi Chawla playing the female lead opposite Raghava Lawrence who plays the hero. Talking about the film, producer Srikanth of Madhyam Productions says, “The film would be made in a practical manner and would talk about the greatness of friendship and the sacrifices that go with it.
“As per the script, four youths spend their time by indulging in all kinds mischievous antics and get ready for the car festival to be held in the village. Keerthi lands up in the village as part of the festival to perform musical programme. Vaseegaran (Lawrene) falls for Keethi’s voice and finds himself madely in love with her.
“When the groom-hunt for Keethi is commenced by her parents, Vaseegaran sends his photo instead of the actual groom and even becomes her neighbour in order to win her heart. Only when the couple falls in love with each other do they realize that it was Vaeegaran indeed who was not the actuall ‘groom’. What happens later has been narrated in an interesting manner in a befitting climax!”
Sundararajan has also penned the story, screenplay and dialogues besides directing the film. Lyrics have been written by Gangai Amaren, Paa Vijay and Sundararajan himself. Devaa would be scoring the film’s music.
