Actor Prithviraj who is quite popular in Malayalam and Tamil Cinema tied nuptial knot with Mumbai-based BBC journalist Supriya Menon at the Kandath heritage villa, the bride’s place at Thenkurissy here on Monday.
The wedding was a strictly personal affair and was attended by few close relatives including Prithviraj’s mother Mallika Sukumaran, brother Indrajith, his wife Poornima and their children.
It is learnt that even the mobile phones of over two dozen staff members of the resort were confiscated and switched off to keep the whole affair private.
Prithviraj is the son of actor-couple, late Sukumaran and Mallika. Prithviraj who debuted in Tamil with KV Anand’s Kanaa Kanden shot to fame with Mozhi, later went on the star in acclaimed movies like Parijadam, Kannamoochi Yenada, Satham Podathey and Raavanan. Supriya is the lone daughter of Vijay Kumar Menon and Padmaja residing at Mumbai. Born in Kerala, she done her schooling from Mumbai and later her graduation in journalism from University of London. She joined BBC in 2007, after working for many famous National TV channels and concentrates on rural reporting.
After the marriage Prithviraj and Supriya Menon went to Ernakulam, without speaking to the journalists waiting outside the gate. However, when they complained that they were not let in to the resort, Mallika Sukumaran said, “We did not invite you to the marriage. We have arranged a reception at the same resort on April 30 and on that day all are welcome.”
A lavish reception is also planned at the Le Meridien in Ernakulam on May 1.
