After the likes of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, no other hero from Kollywood has ever made waves in Bollywood. Rajinikanth, in particular, has many Hindi hits to his credit which have him displaying his histrionics. The talented Prithviraj becomes the latest artiste from the South who would be trying out his luck in Bollywood. The actor, seen in films like Mozhi, would soon be debuting as hero in a Hindi film.
After starring in many films in Tamil and Malayalam, Prithviraj tried his hand at producing with the film Urumi. After waiting for a long time for a ‘suitable’ role, Prithviraj is paired up opposite Rani Mukherji in his very first film in Marathi which would also be dubbed in Hindi. The talented Rani, who was once the queen of Bollywood in the first half of the last decade, still holds her own against the likes of the Deepikas, Kareenas and the Katrinas.
The film is produced by popular film-maker Anurag Kashyap who is said to have mightily impressed after watching Prithviraj’s performances in various Malayalam and Tamil films. Instead of treading the oft-beaten track, award-winning Marathi film director Sachin has taken up an entirely new issue to hold the audiences’ interest.
Speaking about his role in the film, Prithviraj says “I play an young painter whose interest for art and painting knows no bounds. Rani Mukherji plays a Marathi girl in the film. It’s a love story presented in a very different manner,” and adds that the Hindi version would also be released simultaneously.
