Remember actress Lalitha Kumari, former wife of actor-producer Prakash Raj and the younger sister of yesteryear’s ‘item girl’ Disco Shanti? The mother of two, who had been staying away from the industry for the past fifteen years due to her marriage with Prakash Raj, has now returned to films.
‘Pallikkoodam Pogamalae’ is the film which would re-launch Lalitha Kumari to Tamil viewers. She has starred in many movies in the early nineties with the likes of Goundamani, Senthil and other senior actors and has also played major roles in films like ‘Manadhil Urudhi Vendum’, ‘Pudhupudhu Arthangal’, ‘Pulan Visaranai’ and ‘Sigaram’.
After securing divorce from Prakash Raj last year, she now returns to films. “I have starred in a few films made by Balachander Sir and many other successful films in Tamil and Telugu. When I decided to make a comeback, I got many offers but was awaiting the ‘perfect’ role which I got through my character in ‘Pallikkoodam…’.
“I liked the script very much the moment director Jayaseelan narrated the story to me and I immediately agreed to star in the film. My role is that of a woman who loves her erring husband is very affectionate towards her children. Should I get good offers, I shall continue to star in films,” said Lalitha Kumari.
Let’s us wish Lalitha Kumari for her second innings.
