Playback singer Pavatharini is the only daughter of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. The actress had won the national award for playback singing for her song Mayil Pola…. From the film Bharathi almost a decade back. The film, which had Sayaji Shinde playing the fire-brand pre-Independece era poet, had mesmerizing melodie by Ilaiyaraaja and made Pavatharini a house-hold name.
She has now drawn up a plan to entertain her illustrious father’s fans throughout the world. Pavatharini would soon embark on a whirlwind world tour and would be conducting musical programmes in the major cities so as to commemorate the 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) of the release of Ilaiyaraaja’s musical album How To Name It, which was the result of the Maestro’s hardwork as it had no filmy numbers.
Writing on social networking sites, Pavatharini says: “My father dedicated the album How To Name It, which released 25 years back, to the musical legend Thiagaraja. All of us are aware as to the tremendous reception the album met with from Appa’s fans and music lovers. In order to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of the said album, I have decided to condut a world tour wherein I would be holding musical nights in important cities.
“The plan is in its nascent stage and I hope my brothers Yuvan, Karthik Raja, Prem G and Venkatprabhu besides the millions of fans of my father would be assisting my in providing useful inputs and all possible assistance,” says Pavatharini.
