Unlike the high-spending Kollywood film industry, the neighbouring Malayalam film industry has always specialized in making films with less production cost but with high-degree of quality content. For the past many decades, Mollywood has been doling out quality films starring megastars, who are paid less than one-fourth of what many leading Tamil heroes are paid.
Many Kollywood artistes are also under the impression that working in Malayalam films is a huge relief compared to the hustle and bustle of Kollywood, where things move at a terrific pace. Actors Sarath Kumar and Bala and actress Devyani had been doing more Malayalam films than Tamil films for the past few years.
Actor-director Parthiban is the latest to jump on to the Mollywood bandwagon. The irrepressible Parthiban is presently starring in a Malayalam film titled ‘Melvilaasam’ and has decided to take up only those offers which are challenging and are ‘different’ from the run-of-the-mill stuff. Parthiban has also taken the trouble of dubbing in his own voice for his role in the film.
In order to be more active on the social networking sites, Parthiban has also opened his account on the popular Twitter and Facebook and would be regularly tweeting about his ideas in film-making and other topics. He has also launched an exclusive website which provides all the information about him to his fans and to the general public.
