Leading Tamil television channels have been vying with each other, as they always do, to screen as many new films as possible on their respectivel channels to attract viewers and prevent them from flocking to cinema halls on a holiday today on the eve of Tamil New Year which also has turned out to be a Friday, the day on which new Tamil films are usually released in theatres.
Sun Network, which is adamant in conceding it’s a Tamil New year and keeps on repeating the words ‘Chithirai Thirunal’ due to its political affiliation, is the leader of the pack as it happens on most occasions. Kalaignar TV, owned by the Octagenarian politician, has taken the lead in screening superstar Rajinikanth’s mega-hit film Sivaji: The Boss this evening.
Sun TV, which has completed 18 years of its existence and is celebrating the anniversary today, is screening the Vikram-starrer, the emotional pot-boiler Deivathirumagal in the morning while it has chosen to broadcast superstar Rajinikanth’s Chandramukhi in the evening.
Not lagging behind, Jaya TV is screening Vijay’s Velayudham which relesaed late last year on the eve of Deepavali. Other television channels are also following suit. Raj TV is screening Raavanan while Vijay TV would be telecasting Engeyum Epoodhum. Almost all the channels have been trying their best to attract the viewers’ attention.
