Nazriya Nazim, the 18-year old teenager who is all set to make a huge name for herself in Tamil film industry in the days to come, has said that she might end up marrying a ‘Tamil groom’ in future.Nazim’s statement has taken those within the industry and outside by huge surprise as talks of her dating Jai was online, is this a confirmation.
Nazim debuted as heroine in Tamil albeit in an indirect manner by playing the heroine in the Malayalam film Neram which released in its dubbed version in Tamil recently and enjoyed a successful run. She has Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah with Jai, Raja Rani with Arya, Jai and Nayanthara and Naiyandi opposite Dhanush. All these films are expected to propel Nazim as one of the leading heroines in Tamil in the years to come.
Nazims statement is in contrary to the widely-followed practice of actresses from Kerala getting married only to those hailing from their home State. Remya Nambeesan (of Pizza fame) remarked recently that though she loved doing Tamil films and loved Tamil audiences, but would only get married to a guy from Kerala. Most of the actresses from Kerala, who are successful in Tamil, share this opinion.
Except for Manoj, son of Bharathiraja who got married to Nandana, Tamil actors haven’t got married to many Malayalam actresses in the recent times. Another exception is director-actor K Bhagyaraj, marrying Poornima Jayaram.
It is in this context that Nazim’s bold statement deserves kudos and qualifies to be lauded. “If a person impresses me, I’d marry him not bothering about whether he is a Tamil or a Malayalee. Come to think of it, it won’t be a wrong thing if I decide to get married to a Tamil (actor) in future!” she concludes, giving us one of those dazzling smile of hers.
Wonder would Jai be that lucky guy!
