The affair which has been the talking point of the whole of the South Indian film industry for the past year or so has met with an ugly end. After more than three years of courtship, actress Nayantara and film-maker Prabhudeva (doesn’t he deserve the title?) have reportedly agreed to mutually ‘call off’ their troubled relationship which has been making headlines every other fortnight, thanks to the vulnerable tenor of it. According to a source close to the couple who confirmed this news, the two decided to call it quits a few weeks back.
Readers might recall that early last year, Prabhudeva secured the much-needed divorce from his first wife Ramalat in order to ‘ease’ the way for his smooth marriage to Nayan. The bearded Prabhu and the sizzling actress reportedly fell for each other during the making of Villu by Prabhudeva, a film which brought together Vijay and Nayantara together. The film, however, bombed at the box-office.
In order to ensure that his (ex)wife doesn’t contest the divorce suit in the Court, Prabhu spent a ‘fortune’ to keep Ramalat silent and agree for the divorce. All those efforts have now turned futile as it is reported that both Prabhudeva and Nayantara have decided not to take their relationship any further from this point. Last year, Nayan decided to quit her successful acting career to marry Prabhudeva.
For some reasons, the marriage was getting postponed. In between, the couple has had a major ‘misunderstanding’ with Nayan not taking very kindly to Prabhudeva visiting his (first) family frequently to meet his children. After failing to convince Prabhu that he should end all his relationship with Ramalat’s family, Nayan reportedly decided that she’s had enough and that she’d bring her troubled courtship to end.
She recently has taken up a Telugu film opposite Nagarjuna and is said to be open to film offers from Tamil producers and directors as well!
