Actor Nandha has strongly denied that his upcoming film Dileepan is in anyway related to the freedom struggle of LTTE Tigers which was quelled by a bloody army offensive by the Lankan troops more than a couple of years in the Island nation of Sri Lanka. Led by the army, Sri Lankan security forces decimated LTTE and ultimately killed its chief V. Prabhakaran.
Nandha, a competent actor, had earlier starred in the film Aaniver whose script had as its backdrop the ethnic struggle by the Lankan Tamils to get their rights and wants recognized by the Lankan Government. Nandha’s role in Aaniver had probably endeared him to the Sri Lankan Tamils living in various countries around the globe.
Recently, Nandha launched his own production house and has been making Dileepan. Reports said that the film’s script could very well turn out to be the story of the slain LTTE chief Prabhakaran. It is also said that Sathyaraj might play the lead role (of that of Prabhakaran) in the film. The film, as such, has raised a certain amount of expectation and curiosity among the Tamils world-wide.
However, Nandha has gone on record denying that the film is not about the life and times of Prabhakaran. “Though it’s true that I’m making Dileepan as my first production venture, it’s not at all true that it’s the story of Prabhakaran. Nowhere in the script would you find reference to him. Yet, it’s a story for the Tamils, it’s about the Tamils and is being made by the Tamils.
“I’m sure Dileepan would be as successful as Aaniver and would be loved by Tamils across the globe. Along with me, actor Bharath is also playing a significant role in the film,” concluded Nandha.
