‘Rocket Raja’ Karthi seems to have got into trouble with the Nadar community objecting to the usage of the name ‘Rocket’ Raja in ‘Siruthai’. The actor has been blamed for using the name Rocket Raja which apparently happens to be the name of one of the leaders of the Nadar community, Rocket J Raja in real life, runs an organization catering to the needs of the people of his community and enjoys huge popularity and goodwill among them.
‘Siruthai’ has Karthi playing dual roles amongst which one of the character is named as ‘Rocket Raja’, a petty thief. The film’s teaser showcases this character showered with cursing words for his misdeeds.
This fact that it has been assigned to a character that plays a pickpocket has gained members of Tamilnadu Nadars Association who staged their dissatisfaction in front of hero Karthi’s house In T.nagar on Wednesday(12th Jan 2011) and demanded taking down of the name.
Howsoever police have offered their protection while many protestors were also arrested on the spot.
Meanwhile, Gnanavel Raja, producer of the film, has ruled out any deletion of any ‘part’ in the film at this ‘eleventh’ hour. ‘Everything is ready and has been put in place for the release of the film on 14th and we can’t do anything right now,” he has reportedly said. “The protesters, when they watch the film on screen, would realize that we haven’t ‘defamed’ any name or character,” he said.
A troublesome co-incidence, we reckon.
