Popular Tamil music director Chandrabose, who was one of the most sought after maestros in the 1980s and 1990s, passes away at the Government General hospital here this morning (September 30) after prolonged illness.
ChandraBose (60) is survived by two wives Rajeshwari and Geetha, sons Santhosh and Vinoth, and daughter Gowri.
The music director’s health was in a critical situation for nearly a week’s time and had been in Coma. “His condition worsened a couple of days ago and he breathed his last in the wee hours of today”,a family relative said. His body has been taken to his Mylapore residence where artistes from Tamil film world including musicians Deva, Dheena and Rama Narayanan paid their last respects.
Chandrabose shot to fame scoring music for several movies produced by AVM including Rajinikanth starrer ‘Manidhan’ and ‘Raja Chinna Roja’. The song ‘Superstaru yarunnu kettaa’ became a chartbuster and is still one of the favourites of Rajini fans. As for the songs that he sung himself, there was a popular one in “Oru Thottil Sabadham” – Poonchittu Kuruvigala, and one more in “Naan Pudicha Maappillai” – Deepavali Deepavali thaan.
‘Anna Nagar Mudhal Theru’, ‘Paati Sollai Thattadhey’, ‘Manithan’ and ‘Maanagara Kaaval’ were some of the films in which his music was stupendous.
