Megastar Mohanlal’s last year release, Malayalam film titled Oru Naal Varum is now being released in its dubbed version in Tamil with the same title. Mohanlal plays a CBI officer in the film and is paired opposite the sizzling Sameera Reddy who appears to have taken a liking of late to star in all the South Indian language films.
The film is produced by Tiruverkadu Duraimurugan and has Vettuvanam Sivakumar, a popular PRO in filmy circles, debuting as the dialogue-writer. Sreenivas has penned the story and screen-play while C. Mani is the editor of the film. M.G. Kumar is the music director and Navukkarasu is the lyric writer of the Tamil version. Oru Naal Varum has been directed by Rajiv Kumar and has been cinematographed by Manoj Pillai.
Sreenivas plays the villain against whom Mohanlal launches a ‘lawful’ assault. Sameera Reddy plays the heroine opposite Mohanlal in the film which also has the likes of Devayani, Fathima Babu, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu and Maniyam Pillai as part of the cast. Speaking about his first film as a dialogue-writer, Sivakumar says that the film has shaped up very well.
“Sreenivas, a government official, indulges in all sorts of illegal activities including taking bribes. Mohanlal, a sincere CBI official, clashes with Srinivas in a lawful and logical manner. Their frequent interactions would make the film very interesting. The hide-and-seek games between Mohanlal and Srinivas have been turned into an effective script with a racy screenplay which is a different backdrop for a Tamil film,” says Sivakumar.
