Venkatprabhu’s beard appears to be growing faster than the pace at which he conducts his shooting schedules. Son of veteran lyricist and music director Gangai Amaren, Venkatprabhu started off as an actor and switched over to direction by with the successful ‘Chennai 6-00 028’. He followed it up with ‘Saroja’ and ‘Goa’ and is all fired up about his upcoming venture ‘Mankatha’.
‘Mankatha’, incidentally, would be actor Ajith’s landmark 50th film in a career spanning close to two decades. The film has Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali and the stunning Kainaat Arora to give company to ‘Thala’. Ajith’s fans, despite the actor’s recent diktat asking them to disband all the fans’ clubs in his name, are eagerly looking forward to the release of the film.
For Trisha, this would be her 3rd film opposite Ajith after ‘Ji’, and ‘Kireedom’. After she failed to impress with her last film ‘Manmadhan Ambu’, Trisha is hopeful of delivering a hit with ‘Mankatha’, which would make her tick in Kollywood.
Venkatprabhu denies the film is merely about the ‘betting’ on cricket matches and says that it has a lot of offer to Ajith’s fans.
“The highlight of the film is that the entire second-half, which would be racy, takes place in less than a day. The climax would be shot in Hyderabad very soon,” says Venkatprabhu, even as Ajith is gearing up for his next film ‘Billa-2’!
