Director Mani Ratnam’s big release Kadal has been neatly kept under the wraps, all this while. The movie starring actors Samantha and Gautham in lead roles will be another romantic offering from the veteran Kollywood director. Latest is that the film has got its shoots rolling, without much fanfare.
The director and his team were spotted in the coastal village of Manapad. Mani known for his love for Indian locations has zeroed down on the location, wanting to film some beautiful sunset shots by the beach. The area lies in between Tuticorin and Tiruchendur, and “the locals here have been extremely friendly and helpful”, reports a scribe from the sets. Kadal’s plot is set against the backdrop of the fishermen folk in the coastal belts and their ventures into the dark ocean. The first look posters released have been received positively, also mentioning composer Ar Rahman joining his mentor after a long break. Apart from Samantha and Gautham, Kadal has actors Arjun, Lakshmi Manchu, Thambi Ramiah and Aravind Samy in key roles.
