After singing a number of super hit songs in other South Indian languages, actress Mamta Mohandas is finally getting ready to sing in her mother tongue Malayalam. Mamta will lend her voice for a song in director Amal Neerad’s latest film Anwar, in which she is also playing the female lead.
Notably, Mamta has already sung for 13 Telugu films and 3 Tamil films and recently sang for a Malayalam album produced by East Coast videos. Anwar, based on terrorism, starring Prithviraj, was launched at Ernakulam on January 5 and will start rolling in March.
Mamta first sang playback in the Telugu film Rakhee, singing the title song, under Devi Sri Prasad’s direction, making her debut in the Telugu film industry as a singer, before making her acting debut in Telugu. She went on to win the 2007 Filmfare Best Telugu Female Playback Singer Award for that song.
