Notwithstanding the heat he faced in the past fortnight due to the unexpected and sudden raid conducted by the Income Tax department at his offices and houses in various cities in more than one State, Malayalam megastar Mammooty has gone ahead with his effort to launch his son as hero in an upcoming Malayalam film.
Dulquar Salman, Mammooty’s son, got engaged recently to a girl hailing from Chennai. It is said that Mammooty wanted to launch Dulquar as hero in a Tamil film and had reportedly discussed about this with director Lingusamy. Mammooty starred in the hit film ‘Anandam’ directed by Lingusamy a few years back and had developed a rapport with the latter.
Apparently impressed by Lingusamy’s style of film-making, Mammooty wanted his son to be launched in Tamil films by the same director. For some reasons, though, this proposal didn’t move forward and the idea was later abandoned.
Dulquar is all set to make his debut as hero in the Malayalam film titled ‘Second Show’ in which he is paired opposite Avantika. The shooting of the film started in Kozhikode some days back. Talking about Dulquar ’s entry into films, the award-winning Mammooty said, “It wasn’t my aim to bring my son into films. As a father, I have just allowed him to do what he wanted to do.
“He said he wanted to try his luck in films. I listened to many scripts; for some reasons, my dream of launching him in Tamil couldn’t materialize. I don’t regret it; let him first act in Malayalam and then make his way into Tamil films,” a proud Mammooty concludes thus.
