Finally, it has been decided. Debate was raging for weeks now as to who among Nayantara, Katrina Kaif or Shriya Saran would be doing the ‘item number’ in Simbu’s upcoming film Osthi. After a frantic search preceded by talks, Simbu has finally zeroed in on Mallika Sherawat, India’s Hollywood-bound actress, to dance for the ‘item number’ in the film.
Osthi, as already reported, is the Tamil remake of the Bollywood hit film Dabbang which had Salman Khan playing the lead role. Simbu is now remaking it in Tamil in Dharani’s direction. Dharani has been out of limelight for some time now and is hoping to strike it rich with Osthi which pairs up Richa Gangopadhyah opposite Simbu. It also has veteran actress Revathy playing Simbu’s mother.
Simbu dons the cop’s role for the first time in his career for this film. Dharani’s last film was the non-starter Kuruvi which starred Vijay and Trisha in the lead. The director, who has given some super-duper hit films in ‘Dhil’, ‘Dhool’ and ‘Ghilli’, is hoping to bounce back with Osthi in a big way.
Readers might recall that Mallika had earlier sizzled in Kamal’s Dasavatharam more than three years back. Talking about Mallika, Simbu has said in his Facebook account that “We have signed up Mallika to dance for the ‘item number’ in the film. The film has been shaping up really well. The song would be shot in Ramojirao Film City in Hyderabad. We are on course to ensure that the film is released on Deepavali this year.”
