Buoyed by the tremendous success of his Kanchana which released in the second-half of last year, choreographer-turned-director Raghava Lawrence is said to be seriously considering making another sequel to the film. Readers might recall that Kanchana (which was shown as Muni-2) in the title cards, was itself a sequel to Muni made by Lawrence a couple of years back.
The film did very well all over Tamil Nadu and elsewhere. In Telugu, Kanchana ran very well, almost equaling the collections of original Telugu films. The film’s success has not only increased Lawrence’s stakes in the film industry as a film-maker but he has also been flooded with many films offers to play the lead roles. It’s upto Lawrence now to decide as to whether he’d act or direct films.
Lawrence is said to be planning to introduce his younger sibling in a lead role in the third in the Muni sequel. The affable film-maker, who patronizes many physically challenged persons and trains them in dancing, is likely to bury the ‘misunderstanding’ that had crept between him and Lakshmi Rai (heroine of Kanchana) and approach her to play the heroine in the third sequel as well.
A formal announcement in this regard is expected soon. “I owe all the success I achieve in my life to Sri Raghavendra Swamy and would love to dedicate the successes at his feet,” says Lawrence, who has his hands full in Tamil and Telugu.
