All this while Lakshmi Rai was trying to be the ultimate actress, the glamour doll, the in- demand seductress and yeah experimenting with the just a normal girl (but good enough to bag lead roles) looks. But as they say don’t try too hard, ‘vamps’ will fall into place and so it was the case with Lakshmi who bagged a super-duper role in Raghava Lawrence’s – Kanchana (remember the whole Anushka in and out thing) and soon followed it with her vampy act in Thala Ajith’s big 2011 release Mankatha.
Raghava’s Kanchana was a delightful experience for the actress, with it’s eunuch theme revolving around a witchfully spooky storyline coupled with a good dose of humor. On the other hand when Lakshmi was asked to choose between Ajiths love interest and the negative vampy character she boldly chose the latter one. Even though the movie was marketed heavily on the Ajith factor, Lakshmi’s beautiful looks were ignored for the promo-posters and other promo stuff. Howsoever the results are out and her vampiry act has been appreciated by fans and critics alike. When quizzed what she thinks has been the secret behind her success Lakshmi quips, “well I guess it’s the make-up that’s done the trick. I have gone for a less make-up look and also lost a lot of weight to suit the needs. I’m really enjoying the response that I have received.”
Kudos! To you Lakshmi, (guess vamps will be vamps) uh…actually we meant to wish you all the best with your future releases.
