Lakshmi Manchu excited by Ilayaraja’s musical score

Lakshmi Manchu praises Ilayaraja

Lakshmi Manchu is a budding actress and producer from Tollywood. She is the daughter of veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu, who also happens to be a close friend of superstar Rajinikanth. Reports said some time back that Lakshmi had been roped in by ace director Maniratnam to play the lead role in his upcoming film Pookkadai which is likely to launch actor Karthik’s son Gautham as hero in Tamil films.

Mani, however, hasn’t yet confirmed the news. In the meantime, Lakshmi is producing a new film in Telugu titled Gundello Godari which has her playing the female lead opposite Aadhi. Tapasee of Aadukalam fame is the other heroine in the film. The film, directed by debutant director Kumar Nagendra, would have music by ‘Maestro’ Ilaiyaraaja.

The film’s script is said to be based on the flood-disaster which hit the State of Andhra Pradesh in the mid-eighties. The floods inundated parts of the State in one of the worst disasters the State had witnessed. The script would be based on the floods and would explain in detail as to how a couple which gets caught in the floods and survives falls in love with each other.

Confirming that Ilaiyaraaja would be scoring the music, Manchu says she is so thrilled about it. “I’m extremely delighted about the fact that the Maestro would be scoring music for my film. Very soon, the composing of the music would commence in Chennai,” she says excitedly.
