There has been an increasing trend of Tamil heroes planning their future films well in advance and before completing their present project(s). There was a time when leading heroes would do no more than one film at a time and only after the particular film releases, they would take up their next project an decide on its script depending upon the response from the public to their latest film.
Nowadays, heroes think well in advance. Long before completing his latest and landmark 50th film Mankatha, actor Ajith had decided that his next film would be Billa-2, a sequel to his highly successful Billa which released in 2007. Chakri Taloti, who directed Kamal Haasan’s Unnaipol Oruvan, directs Ajith in the sequel film which seeks to find out the reason behind the ‘birth’ of the dreaded don Billa.
Even as he was mid-way through his mind-blowing squint-eyed performance in director Bala’s Avan Ivan, actor Vishal had already decided that his next film would be Vedi directed by Prabhudeva. The film, which has the sizzling Sameera Reddy paired opposite Vishal for the first time, is hitting the screens next week. Before completing Vedi, Vishal had decided that his next film would be Samaran opposite Trisha to be directed by Thiru.
Vishal has also reportedly agreed to do a film for director Lingusamy, who gave him the image of an action hero with Sandakozhi very early in his career. Suriya, who is gearing up for the Deepavali release of his mega-budget film 7aam Arivu produced by Udhayanidhi and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, had finalized long back that his next film would be the K.V. Anand-directed Maatraan opposite Kajal Aggarwal.
It is also said that Suriya’s next couple of films would be directed by Krish (of Vaanam fame) and Hari, with whom Suriya has had a series of hits in Vel, Aaru and Singam.
