Director Pandiraj’s Marina has been enjoying a strong entry for the past one week and now it’s time to welcome some new small budget releases. Among the top contenders this Friday is Prakash Raj’s ‘Dhoni’. Another movie hopeful of doing good business at the halls is Sonia Aggarwal’s ‘Oru Nadigaiyin Vaakumoolam’.
Dhoni marks Prakash’s debut as a director .The movie which was passed with a clean ‘U’ certificate recently, is expected as an emotional family drama. Scripted around the aspirations of a son, becoming someone like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his father determined to get him an MBA, Dhoni’s star attraction is the music by maestro Ilayaraja. The Tamil Film Producers Council decision of restricting the entry of big releases and giving chance to mini releases has seen a fresh wind of change. Another movie titled ‘Vilayada Vaa’ directed by ad filmmaker-turned-director, Vijay Nandhaa explores the life of a young man who is addicted to the game of carrom. Debutant Vishwanath Balaji is playing the lead role while Divya Padmini of Puli Vesham fame plays the female lead in Vilayada Vaa. Actress Sonia Aggarwal hopes to make her comeback, sizzling to some hot numbers in the movie Oru Nadigayin Vakku Moolam, which will go Vidya Balan’s ‘Dirty Picture’ way of showcasing the hardships of becoming an actress. The movie directed by Rajkrishna has music by Aadhish. Apart from theses 3, other movies making it to the theaters this Friday include ‘Soozhnilai’, ‘Rudraboomi’, ‘Vachathi’, ‘Engada Unga Mandhiri’, ‘Oru Mazhai Naangu Chaaral’ and ‘Uchithanai Mugarndhal’.
