Actress and DMK’s star campaigner Khushboo has expressed her support for the 2G spectrum scam accused and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi. She stated, “As a woman I am really with Kanimozhi.”
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s daughter and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, has been charge-sheeted for alleged criminal conspiracy and accepting bribe in the 2G spectrum scam case. In its supplementary charge sheet filed in a special court on April 25, the CBI had accused Ms. Kanimozhi of entering into a criminal conspiracy with former telecom minister A Raja for allegedly accepting illegal gratification through Kalaignar TV — a channel run by the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu, in which the money related to the 2G scam was routed.
Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani is appearing for Kanimozhi. She has applied for bail and the order on her bail plea has been reserved for May 14 by Patiala House court, New Delhi. If Kanimozhi is denied bail, she faces arrest.
Khushboo, who has been traking all the developments of the Patiala high court, on this allegation said, Kanimozhi will prove her innocence before the nation.
“Kanimozhi is undergoing lot of turmoil as a woman and as a mother. I have been through something very similar prior. So I can understand how her feelings would be. As we all know Kanimozhi is a very strong person. As far as the allegations are concerned I believe that she is going to come out absolutely scatch-free. There will not anything be going against her. As a woman, I am really with her. I know what a woman and a mother going through”
“Kani has not done anything wrong. She is just a 20% share holder like what Ram Jethmalani argued with the court. She doesn’t look on to the matters day-to-day basis. I think that’s the very big plus for us.”, Khushboo said.
It may be recalled that Khushboo joined the ruling DMK in May last year after the Supreme Court quashed cases against her on her controversial remarks on pre-marital sex in an interview a couple of years back.
The Rajya Sabha MP, has also been asked by the Enforcement Directorate to appear before it on May 12 and 13 respectively in connection with the 2G case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
