Actress Kamna Jethmalani finds herself in the midst of a controversy. Readers might recall that Kamna debuted as heroine in Tamil in the year 2005 as ‘Jayam’ Ravi’s heroine in Saran’s Idhaya Thirudan soon after debuting in Telugu as heroine with the film Premikulu. Both the films turned out to be average hits and Kamna had to wait till the next year for her first commercial hit in Ranam. The actress is presently busy in Telugu with a few projects after the Tamil film industry didn’t prove luck for her though she starred in films like Jeevan’s Machchakkaran and Raghava Lawrence’s Rajathi Raja.
The 26-year old actress is under fire for her recent remarks wherein she described ‘Lord Venkateswara’ of Tirupathi as her ‘boyfriend’. Kamna recently visited the shrine of Lord Venkateswara in the holy hills of Tirupathi for a darshan of the Lord. Emerging from the temple after the darshan, Kamna was surrounded by a posse of journalists. During her casual chat with them, she had referred to the ‘Lord’ as her ‘boyfriend’. This had created huge opposition from many within and outside the film industry. Kamna was urged to take back her unwarranted remarks.
After facing condemnation through telephone, internet and by means of letters, Kamna has now public apologized to her fans and to the general public for her remarks. “Lord Venkateswara means everything to me in my life. He’s my guardian, father and friend and I referred to him as ‘boyfriend’ only in that sense. I wasn’t award it would create a controversy. I now take back my remarks as they have hurt the sentiments of the devotees of the Lord. I sincerely apologize to them,” said Kamna, bringing an end to the controversy.
