Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will lay the foundation stone for ‘Kalaignar Thiraiyur’, a residential colony for members of the film fraternity, at Paiyanoor near Chennai on April 23.
The 65 acres of land allocated by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi has been named as Kalaignar Thiraiyur.The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the housing quarters, actor Kamal Haasan will lay the foundation stone for the hospital and Rajinikanth will lay the foundation stone for the film studio. Apart from the hospital and film studio, a recording theatre, editing facility, dubbing theatre and much more would be built for the benefit of the film industry workers.
The entire film industry opines that the Kalaignar Thiraiyur will be on par with the facilities that are available in Hollywood and would be known as the Los Angeles of India.
According to Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) president V C Guhanathan, “We have also plans to set up an edit suit, a recording and dubbing studio at Kalaignar Thiraiyur. The colony would surely set an example for others.”
