Actor Jai and actress Anjali starred in the hit film Engeyum Eppodhum directed by newcomer Saravanan a few months back. The film, which signaled the first production venture of director A.R. Murugadoss, turned out to be a super-hit venture at the box-office. Produced with a minimum budget, the film did very well at all the centres and was appreciated for the simple yet water-tight script.
Their pairing was appreciated by the media as well as the fans and the two were spotted at quite a few places and even co-hosted the audio-launch of Suriya’s 7aam Arivu. Just when rumours gathered momentum that they were planning to get married, came Anjali’s harshly worded statement last week saying that there was ‘nothing’ between her and Jai and that she wanted to concentrate on her career and on ‘nothing else’.
She also added that in order not to give room for such rumours in future, she had decided not to pair up opposite in future in any film(s). This prompted a retort from Jai who said that he never intended to marry an ‘actress’ in his life. Jai held that he would only marry a girl of his parents’ choice and was not likely to get married to any actress. This obviously triggered ‘unofficial’ protests from many actresses who had paired up opposite in the past.
In order to set the record straight, Jai has said “Whatever I say has been misunderstood or stated out of context. I only meant that I won’t be marrying an actress because as an actor, I’d be busy with my own schedules. In that sense, I meant that my wife shouldn’t be an actress; in fact, she shouldn’t be a working woman either. She has to be at home to take care of my needs; this was what I meant!”
Is that clear now, folks?
