Tollywood star Jagapati Babu, one of the smart-looking heroes of Telugu cinema, has been roped in as the second hero for Chiyaan Vikram’s forthcoming bilingual(Tamil and Telugu) project Thaandavam, directed by AL Vijay. The actor made his debut in Tamil films with Arjun-starrer Madarasi a few years ago and he played a baddie in the film.
Though director Vijay is tightlipped about Jagapati’s role, all he’ll say is that he is the second hero and a powerful character. Sources close to the unit inform that the actor’s role has negative shades and is parallel to Vikram’s.
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, the film also has an ensemble cast of Anuskha, Amy Jackson,Santhanam, Nasser,Saranya Ponvannan and many others. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar, lyrics by Na Muthukumar, editing by Anthony and art direction by Nagu.
Thaandavam is said to be loosely inspired by Hollywood flick The Bourne Identity. Vikram’s character named Shiva will be doing the role of a retrograde amnesia patient, which was played by Matt Damon in the original. While Anushka performs the character of Vikram’s wife, Amy Jackson plays the role of his girlfriend.
The movie went on floors today (Nov 30,2011) in Chennai and the full fledged shoot begins in January 2012. The will be shot majorly in many locations of USA, Delhi and Chennai.
