It’s official: Vikram to play the lead role in Shankar’s next

Vikram and Shankar

The speculation has at last come to an end. ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram would be playing the lead role in director Shankar’s upcoming film. Shankar, who directed a remake for the first time in his life with the Vijay-Jiiva-Srikkanth starrer Nanban which hit the screens early this year, is gearing up for his next film, said to be a mega-project.

It was said some time back that Vikram, who successfully played the protagonist in Shankar’s Anniyan more than five years back, had fallen out of reckoning to play the lead role in the director’s next flick. It was added that Suriya had stepped into Vikram’s shoes and would be working under Shankar’s direction for the first time in his career.

The cat, however, is out of the bag now: it’s now confirmed that Vikram would indeed be playing the lead role in this yet-to-be-titled film. Noted authors Suresh and Bala who write with the nick-name Suba would be penning the film’s dialogues while A.R. Rahman would be scoring the music of the film. Rahman rejoins Shankar after the super-duper hit film Enthiran: The Robot which released in 2010.

Vikram is said to have signed along the dotted lines to star in the film, it is reported. Vikram, who is presently doing director Vijay’s Tnandavam, would soon be completing his assignment in order to make himself available to star in Shankar’s film. Let’s wait and see whether the duo manages to recreate the same magic like they did in Anniyan!
