Linguswamy’s Vettai did get of to a flying start, early this year. A racy entertainer accompanied by some peppy music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, made Vettai a fitting Pongal release. The film’s success has given director Linguswamy enough confidence to take things up Bollywood.
He will start shooting the Hindi version of Vettai in the first week of May at the famous Ramoji Fim City, Hyderabad. While the original film starred Arya-Amala Paul and the Madhavan-Sameera jodi in Kollywood, there is a fresh cast to be fixed for the Hindi release. Lingu is opting for Pakistan based Bollywood actor Ali Zafar in place for Maddy. For the other young pair it will be Shahid Kapoor and Goan chickita Ileana D’cruz, reprising the roles of Arya and Amala Paul respectively. Ileana has signed up a couple of Bollywood projects, her first one being Barfee , starring Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. The director is yet to confirm his cast as he tells us, “We are in talks with Ileana but nothing is official as of now.” It is also learnt that Linguswamy wanted Madhavan to take up the film in Hindi, but the latter’s knee injury is keeping him away from work, as per doctor’s advice. This remake effort will be Director Linguswamy’s maiden venture in Bollywood.
