Reports trickling in from Kollywood say that Ameer has putforth a plea to Maestro Ilaiyaraaja to consider scoring the music of his upcoming film titled Kannabiran which would have Vijay playing the lead role. Readers might recall that right from his debut film Mounam Pesiyadhae till his latest film Aadhi Bhagavan (to be released soon), Ameer has always made use of the music of Maestro’s son Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Maestro did sing a hugely popular song Ariyadha Vayasu… in Ameer’s Paruthiveeran which again had musical score by Yuvan. In a recent programme, when his turn to speak on stage came, Ameer turned to the Maestro who was sitting on the dais and requested him to compose the music for his upcoming film.
Pat came the reply from Ilaiyaraaja that “I don’t think I’d suit your style of movies which have sickle and blood as the main ‘characters’; I feel Yuvan is more than enough!” Though Raja uttered these comments smilingly and in a lighter vein, he didn’t outrightly refuse to compose music for Ameer’s next film. As such, Ameer is said to be still trying hard to rope in the Maestro to score the music of Kannabiran.
Readers might be able to recall that Kaadhalukku Mariyadhai, Kannukkul Nilavu and Friends are the Vijay-starrers which have so far had Ilaiyaraaja’s music to prop them up. These films not only did well in theatres but the songs also became widely popular, helping the film put up a decent show at the box-office.
Keep watching this space to know whether the Maestro would be ‘gracing’ the Vijay-starrer Kannabiran by agreeing to compose its music!
