    • I have great respect for ilayaraja and at the sametime for good music. Some how I don’t think this touches our soul… really did not sink well with the movie.. just for sake of praising someone don’t say rubbish… don’t get into narrow minded..by bashing others like copy paste. listen to Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya.. will squeeze your soul dude… we expect more from ilayaraja. may be next time.. this album is not par with others of his own creations.. may be he needs to put the weight down from his head and go back to 80’s to create something like those..which really touched million hearts..

  1. DISSAPOINTING, MORE OF A SONG, IT SOUNDS LIKE A ORCHESTRA WITH VARIOUS INSTRUMENTS. I DO NOT BELIEVE HE HAS THE SAME PUNCH HAS HARRIS OR ARR. HE IS NOT PAR WITH CURRENT TREND AND GOUTHAM MAY HAVE NOT HAD MUCH OF A CHOICE, HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO JUST ACCEPT WHATEVER HE DELIVERS AND YUVAN HAS TO TAKE BIT MORE SINGING CLASSES. HE VOICE NOR RUSTIC OR SMOOTH. SONGS ARE VERY PLAIN AND I HOPE THE LOVE STORY STANDS THE STORM. 2/5

    • First you deserve a BIG PUNCH all over your face. Common this is not a place to dump your ridiculous comments. If you are used to junk music of todays era jus go ahead., dont spoil the space with such immature junk comments.

  2. Guys..I do respect everyone is entitled to his own opinion…but those who don’t like this album, may be it’s not your fault… you guys have got so immuned to the “cut & paste” music type..please open your ears, or rather your mind to experience NEPV

  3. you are correct Mr. Hari. We may be so immuned to listen the cut and paste music…we may be layman in the music or dont know anothing about music…. Once Raja was giving music even for the people like us….what we trying say is, we are expecting that kind of music from raja which will mesmerize us…which made us to forget this world…

    • Don’t get me wrong Ganesh… I don’t know music even to a level that you may know, I am worse than a layman…If I can enjoy these songs to my heart, I am you will do it, IF you keep your heart & ears OPEN…by the way, I don’t mean to demean anybody, but let me mention something just because someone here pulled in a comparison of Harris…just yesterday a local tamil FM channel here was airing back to back songs of Harris…venam machan venam (okok), ava enna enna (VA) & thirunelveli alva (samy) were played consecutively.. Each of them was just a glaring repeat of other tunes..and all of these were regarded as “super hits” by the same crowd????… so back to my point on “cut & paste” and “immunity”..that’s the issue here…

    • Ganesh, you may be right. One this you observed is very true. MESMERIZING songs. You need to understand that the current world is spoiled by all unwanted fast paced life. Starting from you child hood jus recollect how many things have changed that we once enjoyed. This stupid world (i mean us) is moving so fast that we are spoilt in everything from the good food we had once to whatever you may think of.

Even this true in the case of good music. People are not ready to accept good music which needs hte same life style we had long back. So everything has to change even to listen to good music.

  5. Guys,

It will take 2-3 listenings to get used to Raja’s way of composing. But once you are into it, it is like a honey bee soaked in a bucket of honey.

Listen to the telugu version here..
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRa9AQAOHs8.

For, all Raja fans, to show the love you have for him, better get a copy of the original CD as a life time collection.

It sounds much much better in telugu. Extracts the nextar of the sweetness of the language and the power of Western classical music..

  6. Inthaka korukunna song is amazing. So meaningful lyrics and the background score is carrying the mood of the song so elegantly. Possibly a song where the couple is about to split. It carries so much of pain, agony, a small hope for reunion.. I guess that is what is in the story of the movie as well.

  7. Since Sep.4, 2012 i am listening to all NEPV songs daily almost for 10 times each song. Yennodu vaa vaa, Katrai Konjam, Mudhal Murai, Vaanam Mella, Sayyindu Sayyindu and Sattru Mumbu. Slow poison songs and it will mix in your blood and give great feeling whenever you just think of these song. Illaraja is God of Music and i am not only listening to his songs since 1980 but living with it.

  8. Those who find the songs of NEP not upto the mark please listen. First you should be someone who enjoys Ilayaraja throughout your life since childhood. Like said earlier by someone righfully you guys are all so used to the electronic readymade music, that you can’t appreciate real music. Even when I listened to the songs for the first time I didn’t feel the music in me… But as I kept listening to it everyday, I can’t be without listening to the songs even one day. It’s get’s into you, it makes you feel happy for no reason, it lightens your heart. That is what music is supposed to do. A good song is good lyric told musically. That happens here. You can listen to the words clearly and music is not hurting your ears though so many instruments are used. The music is not confusing, it’s simple and reachable even to the last man. So please don’t make comments without knowing the value of Ilayaraja and his music. HE IS THE GOD OF MUSIC ACCORDING TO ME!

    • You are spot on. Music is just heard by by every one with ears. But only few can this into their souls. Nowadays all most all of the songs do not know the meaning of soul touching music. So its common for people to realize the quality of the music that has been delivered in NEP. Its a waste trying to make people understand this and is similar to talking abt the goodness of traditional grandma’s food who do not even know what it is and are exposed to fast foods.

Let only people with good taste for music enjoy NEP. Others …, no need to say.

  9. I am a devoted fan of two constructs: the European Classical (Bach, Beethven, Mozart) and how they adapt so well to Tamil music in the hands of seasoned musician like Ilayaraaja. I admit – I am a bit biased towards his music. NEPV is a wonderful treat to those of us who love European Classicals. You don’t have to love it though to like this album. There is a lot of soul in songs like Kaatrai Konjam and Mudhal Murai and even the one sung by Yuvan (Sayndhu). Ilayaraaja is a rarity in Indian film music. The only constructive feedback I have about this album is that some of the other songs could have been slightly more “indianized” like he used to do in his early years. But then Gautham V Menon is a very “anglo-styled” film maker and he probably asked for this.

It is a musical treat to all. Wonderful work on strings (AS ALWAYS!) and this time strings include the Electric Guitar. I loved the garage band style drumming and Electric guitar work in Kaatrai Konjam and Mudhal Murai. Thanks Ilayaraaja – for once more reminding me why I fell in love with your film music in the first place!

  10. I want to tell you one thing. First you should know about the great ilayaraaja. otherwise don’t speak about him. MS Viswanathan, TK Ramamoorthy and now ilayaraajaa are always creators. the present day music directors are not creators. Just cut, copy & paste music directors. nobody could beat the creators. hence i request all the cut, copy & paste devotees, simply shut your mouth, eyes and ears. They themself thought that ilayaraajaa no more. His chapter is almost closed. As I already said, the creators’ chapters cannot be closed by anybody. They will be creating history always.
    Thankyou,

    • Just to add. No music director could span these many years giving these many hit numbers that are even heard today. Many thought that IR is over and as always genius are never over. Its only about if we are ready to hear such genius. He will be on and on and on for ever with his lively music for ever.

    • I have great respect for ilayaraja and at the sametime for good music.
