I’d have become an action hero if I were a male:Shammu

Staying away from the routine of holding the audio-launch function in Chennai, the cast and crew of the upcoming film ‘Paalai’ held the event marking the music release of the film at Erode. The film has Shammu playing the female lead and has been produced by Semmai Veliyeettagam’. The event, held at Yaali Residency hotel on the Telephone Bhawan Road, managed to attract a huge number of audiences from the adjacent localities. Producer Naagai Ravi and director Senthamizhan welcomed the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Shammu said “Usually, I take my own time deciding whether or not to take on the scripts narrated to me. After hearing the script of ‘Paalai’ from the director, I immediately decided that I should be doing the role at any cost though I had to train hard in the martial art form of Kalari and learn the art of climbing trees as well.

“Many a time, I have thought that I should learn to climb trees and when I got to do the same for the film, my joy knew no bounds. I always love to do exciting thins; had I been born male, I would surely have become an action –hero, for sure. Fortunately, my role in this film has given enough fodder for me to try my hand at doing action-packed sequences. I have attempted bow-and-arrow fight, have run with fire-torch and have also romanced the hero in between.

“I haven’t put on leaves as dresses in the film but have only used dresses made in the shape of realistic-looking leaves. I had also used ornaments made of flowers, which was the custom some thousand years back as the script is dated backwards. Had the flowers remained intact, I would even have taken them to U.S. on my way,” concluded Shammu on a happy note.
